Kintsugi class (Private class)
Service Description
Step into the timeless world of Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of golden joinery in this soulful, private workshop at ViViVi Studio. Here, you’ll learn to lovingly repair your broken pottery, transforming cherished fragments into breathtaking works of art that celebrate resilience, beauty, and renewal. If you’ve been holding onto treasured ceramics awaiting a second life, this intimate session offers a meaningful way to restore them. Guided by our experienced instructor, you’ll journey through both contemporary and traditional Kintsugi techniques. Using high-quality materials and specialist tools imported directly from Japan, you’ll experience the deep satisfaction of breathing new life into your beloved pieces. Throughout the workshop, you’ll be guided with care through each step — from assessing and preparing your broken pieces, to applying binding materials with precision, and enhancing your repairs with luminous metallic finishes. While we primarily work with modern epoxy resin to allow for a more practical workshop experience, you'll also enjoy a live demonstration of the traditional Urushi lacquer method, offering a rare glimpse into the heart of this centuries-old craft. As you mend each crack, you’ll discover a powerful shift in perspective: brokenness becomes an opportunity for beauty, storytelling, and artistry. You'll leave not only with a stunning, restored object, but with a deeper appreciation for the enduring spirit of Japanese craftsmanship and philosophy. What to Bring: A broken ceramic object (broken into no more than 5 pieces). Please note: Repaired pieces will not be food-safe, but decorative items such as tableware or vases are perfect for this experience.
